Nail-Venturous - Floam!!!!!!

Why yes, I did snag a bottle! Finally. I had a really hard time capturing this. =/ Also, I was in a rush to get to class so I will probably post updated pics soon!

Application was VERY thick. It was a little bit goopy once on the nail, but I was able to maneuver it. =] I have two coats of Floam on (but it needed at least one more) with one coat of Seche. It could have used more Seche too.

Here you go!

Shade, natural light

Bathroom light

You can purchase Floam on ninjapolish.com. You can also try to snag it from Nail-Venturous's Etsy shop.

Cult Nails - Toxic Seaweed over Living Water

Hi! I have a swatch of two Cult Nails polishes! I did this before I had to cut down my nails. I am sad to say that they aren't doing so well right now. =/

They keep chipping and they aren't growing. I really need to figure out how to help my poor nails!

Without further ado, here is Toxic Seaweed over Living Water. I think the combo goes well.

Living Water is a deep blackened, blue jelly with some blue sparkle/glitter in it. Toxic Seaweed is more of a green jelly that takes a few coats to become opaque. There are also glitter and gold flakes to boot! It is a gorgeous color.

Do you like to layer? Sometimes I feel like it can be hit or miss when it comes to combinations.

Blaze UV/Sun Activated Polish

Hello!
Today I have some color changing polish for you all. The brand is Blaze UV/Sun Activated Nail Polish. They recently had a "flash" sale of sorts through their Facebook page. The deal was to get their polish for half-off during a two hour stretch and receive a free top/base coat. I bought three.

The first one I tried (on my nubbins, gahhhhh) was Sandy Surf to Black Coral. This shade goes from a nice nude, yellow shimmer to a darker purple shimmer in the sunlight.

The formula was a bit hard to work with because of how thin it was. I have on one thin coat and one thick coat, but it could have probably used one or two more.

The color indoors.

When I stepped into sunlight

Sunlight
As you can see, the color changes when the sunlight hits it! I was actually pretty impressed but the color it changed to. I am definitely a purple girl, if you haven't noticed. It does say that the color changes to black coral...but this is definitely purple.

Sunlight for one minute

Back inside, changing back to the coral color.

Overall, I enjoyed how fun this was. I was excited to see how it looked in the sunlight! It is pretty interesting to have two colors for the price of one (haha).

Blaze nail polish sells for $12.95 on their website here. It looks like a few of them have a "special" price at $9 right now.

I have two more to try out. Look for the review in the future!

Disaster

I thought I would have all the time in the world to do pretty nail stuff over break. That was a bust. =/ I only did one mani (the leopard one).

I then proceeded to get SUPER sick. I stayed in bed from Friday to Sunday. Somewhere in all of that, disaster struck.

China Glaze Shower Together with Kiss Black Striper

Yep. On my left hand too. I may have cried. By the way, I lied...I did TWO manis. This was going to be my "First Day of Spring" mani, but I never got a chance to take pics.

Now I have the nubbiest nubbins of all. They actually HURT ME when I look at them. Booooo.

China Glaze Pink Voltage with a Color Club Sugarplum Fairy accent. This isn't an accurate representation of the color. See my thumb over there? ------> That is a snippet of what it looks like IRL.
Sooooo, we'll see how this goes. My nails don't grow very fast and I worked hard to get my nails to a length that I was happy with.

Have you ever had a really bad tear/break that couldn't be fixed?

Leopard with a Bow

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted anything in a couple of days! My boyfriend's 21st birthday was yesterday so we went to his parents' place on wednesday and hit up an Irish bar called The Irishmen. It was a lot of fun. We both tried our first Irish Car Bomb (YUUUUCK), but at least I didn't throw up like someone did. Heehee

Anyway, I wore a leopard print mani with a green bow. I think I am going to enter this in the Rebecca Likes Nails contest.

I used Zoya Loredana for the base (two coats). Then with a dotting tool, I used Wet n Wild Black Creme and Zoya Charla for the spots. The bow is Zoya Midori! Yay!

Loredana is actually a matte finish polish. It is gorgeous matte, but when a top coat is added, HOLY SCHMOLY. It glitters and shines like crazy! <3

I wasn't in my normal lighting setting, so these were taken in awkward spots around my my boyfriend's parents' house.

What do you think of Loredana with a top coat? How about any matte with a topcoat?

Gorgeous but Stubborn Mani

Hey you guys! So I did this freaking adorable mani the other night but it was super hard to capture. =/ I took a million pictures (almost) and I am still grumpy about the turnout.

These looked SO MUCH better in real life.

I used OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees as the base with 2 coats. I used striping tape for the blocks and filled them in with Color Club Sugarplum Fairy. Whoa Holo!

Sorry for the crappy pics. =[

What is on your nails today?

Glitter Tape Mani!

Here are some pics of a quick glitter tape mani I did. I used two coats of L'Oreal's Now You Sea Me and two coats of Color Club's Beyond the Mistletoe! I used Wet n Wild's black creme for the tape part. Two coats of seche vite topped it all off! Whew! Tons of layers, huh?

Ooooh! Baby holo!

Blurry to show the holo!

What so you think? My nails are SO GLITTERY! I can't stop staring. =]

Enjoy!

Warrior Ethos - Nerd Lacquer

Happy dance!!! This was my first ever Nerd Lacquer. It is called Warrior Ethos. GORGEOUS. In the shade it is a super dark raspberry jelly. In the sun, it is a a juicy red jelly. The glitter is suspended well, lays flat and spreads fairly even. It went on like butter in two freaking-fabulous coats.

I tend to stare at my nails all day when I have it on. ;]
They are topped with SV.

Warrior Ethos is described as "a bright blood red with black, iridescent, copper, and red glitter, plus medium black hexagonal glitter and large copper hexagonal glitter. Opaque in two coats, or great as a top coat over your favorite crimson" (Nerd Lacquer).

Warning: Slightly pic heavy.

Remember to click on the pictures to enlarge them and see all of the juicy goodness! Nerd Lacquer is sold by Amanda at her Etsy shop here. They can also be found on Harlow & Co. She bases her colors on sci-fi shows and such. She even has a line based off of the Firefly series/Serenity movie. I might have to get those soon! She is a bit behind in orders, but she opens her shop as soon as she is able.

Indoor lighting, no flash...when I had nubbins!

"Sorry for the Late" color - Adagio and Warrior Ethos bottle shot!

So, what do you think? I have seen swatches of her other colors and they all look amazing. Check them out!!!

Wet n Wild - Club Havana

I was looking for a simple, cheap orange to do nail art and such. I picked up this Wet n Wild, called Club Havana, at RiteAid on clearance. I think it will do the job! It actually went on really nice with great coverage.

Two coats!

Definitely not this red IRL

Enjoy!
Wet n Wild can be found in most drugstores. They usually retail from 99 cents to $3.

A England - Saint George

Oh sweet joy of all joy! Saint George is finally mine! I have definitely mentally approved this purchase. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this polish. It is my first A England. Props to Adina overseas! <3

Here we go! The following pictures are all ONE COAT. Yep, this sucker is so pigmented that I only needed one coat. I did not use a topcoat.

Would ya just look at that beauty?!
The color is is teal and shifts to emerald green in low light. The holo isn't extremely strong, but it is there! I'm putting in a jump because I want all of the pictures to be XL!

Julep Alicia from March Maven Box

Hi! Today I have another swatch for you. I know, I know. After this week I will have a lot more time to do nail art. I have an exam at 3 and then one tomorrow at 10. =/

Have to get my degree!

Anyway, here are some pictures of Julep Alicia. I actually enjoyed this color and wore it for three days. It was, however really hard to capture the true color in pictures.

Alicia is peachy, salmon and it went on well. I have two coats on and no topcoat.

Julep sells for $14 dollars a bottle on their website. You can become a Julep Maven and get two polishes and a beauty product every month for $20! Use my referral link if you would like!

Enjoy!

Borghese Spam

Hello! Today I have a little bit of spam for ya! I recently purchased four bottles of Borghese nail polish from RiteAid for $2 a pop. They are usually $8! The RiteAid was having a clearance and most of the colors were gone. Of the 8 that were left I chose Arriverderci Mist, Maraschino, Menta and Carnevale Grape.

I had never tried this brand of polish before.

Fabulous Fellow Nail Blogger

Today I have a little special somethin' somethin' for you all! A Fabulous Fellow Nail Blogger! Hopefully this is the first of many fellow nail polish bloggers to be featured on my blog. I asked her a few questions so as to get to know her a little better! Without further ado:
Meet Nichole, nail polish lover and author of Adventures of the Nailfriends!

This is Nichole's entry for Chalkboard Nail's dotting tool contest, found here

VLB: Why do you paint your nails?
AOTN: I paint my nails for a few reasons. One, because I can! I love art and drawing and I'm actually an illustration student, but sometimes I don't have time to sit down to a 15-20 hour illustration. I can pop in a movie, and get my art fix in a couple of hours and that makes me feel good
VLB: Woot for creative minds and art students!

VLB: When did you start your blog and why?
AOTN: I started my blog a couple weeks ago, actually! I started it so I could have somewhere to meet other people who love nails and nail art. Instead of being a nebulous internet being I now have a solid home so I can say, "This is me, this is what I do. Come play with me!" I love what I've seen of the nail community and I wanted to be a part of that.
VLB: I absolutely LOVE the nail community. Everyone is so nice!

VLB: Sooo....you are a fan of cartoons/comics/Pokemon?!
AOTN: Ahahahahaha yes. I'm new to nails, but I'm standing on a lifetime of nerdity. Anime, video games, cartoons, sci fi, fantasy, you name it. Pok√©mon is a special love. I started watching it when it first aired on American television. (original 150 WHOO!) I've played almost all the games, got my little sister pretty obsessed with it and my goal is to eventually paint all 150 original pokemon on my nails. I'm 4/150 so far. The other three I've done will appear on my blog in the 2011 recap I'm doing.
VLB: Seriously, who doesn't have a little bit of nerd in them! I used to watch Pokemon with my brothers!

VLB: What is your all time favorite nail color? (You had to know this was coming)!
AOTN: Oh no! The favorite color question! Always so hard to choose! So far the polish that I've absolutely loved on my nails is OPI's Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous. But I love purples and blues if I also want to be much more vague.

VLB: What is your all time favorite nail polish brand?
AOTN: All time favorite polish brand is China Glaze, but lately I've been getting into more indie brands. Cult Nails, ManGlaze and NerdLacquer are favorites!
VLB: I LOOOOOVE all my (2) Nerd Lacquers! Haha

VLB: Lastly, where do you get your inspiration from?
AOTN: I get my inspiration from everywhere. Colors, pictures, dreams, other artists. A lot of it is subconscious and I'll end up just pulling it out of my head, but it's always inspired by something. I love browsing through other blogs, tumblrs and facebook pages to store away in my mind one more thing I never would have thought of.

I hoped you all liked this segment! AOTN currently has a giveaway going on, and it has a pretty awesome theme! Don't forget to check Adventures of the Nailfriends out!
Her Facebook page can be found here.

Enjoy!

French Mani

Happy March!
Gah! Super, extra-quick post this morning. Here is a french mani I did awhile back for a night out to dinner. These are my natural nails. I used a sheer L'oreal pink called "Wishful Pinking" as the base (I think it was like three coats) and Zoya Purity for the tips. I used a black Kiss Striper for the smile lines.

I promise to write longer and better reviews once my exam is over tomorrow! *EDIT: Ok, my exam was this morning (why did I say tomorrow up there? I have no idea. Exhaustion? lol) Anyway I only missed, at the most, 2 out of 100! Woot.

I received my Julep Maven box for March yesterday, so be looking for those swatches. I am also expecting a Zoya package and...wait for it...A England's SAINT GEORGE. I am beyond stoked for that package. Woot!

Enjoy.
